A new study from researchers in Europe claims that the average IQ in Western nations dropped by a staggering 14.1 points over the past century.
"We tested the hypothesis that the Victorians were cleverer than modern populations using high-quality instruments, namely measures of simple visual reaction time in a meta-analytic study," the researchers wrote in the study, which was published online in the journal Intelligence on Thursday. "Simple reaction time measures correlate substantially with measures of general intelligence and are considered elementary measures of cognition."

Scientists have long known that premature infants fed formula are more likely to develop necrotizing enterocolitis than those fed breast milk. The condition is the leading cause of death from gastrointestinal diseases in premature infants, but the underlying mechanism has not been understood. Alexander Penn, a research scientist working in the Microcirculation Laboratory of bioengineering Professor Geert Schmid-Schönbein from the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, believes they have come closer to an answer.

Many women leave make-up or being neat after marriage which is not good in marital life.
The one of them spends at least an hour taking a shower in the morning, putting on makeup, fixing her hair, and making sure she will look snazzy and smell pleasant when she steps out the door.

“Who knew marriage could be so difficult?” asked Sara:
“One day you’re this care-free woman, pretty selfish and self-indulgent. Next you have a roomie – and one that is supposed to share that room with you for the rest of your life!”
“We were living on top of each other,” she added,
“Everyone has disagreements – big and small – and we’re all supposed to handle them in some way or another.”
All married couples experience difficulties. Learning to disagree can be one of the hardest but most rewarding experiences in a marriage. Even more rewarding is resolving these disagreements and keeping unhappiness at bay.

Every noble cause and truth will gain constancy and a universal identity by its adherents' determination to protect it and their devotion to it.
If those who have embraced that cause and truth are not perceptive, faithful, and persevering, that which they have embraced eventually will be erased from human memory by the hostility of its determined enemies. Just as stagnant water stinks and putrefies upon losing its fluidity, the source of its life, so do those lazy people who abandon themselves to comfort and ease inevitably begin to rot and become losers.

A tired mother plops her two-year-old child in front of the television so she can have a few minutes of rest. The child watches intently as puppets entertain with songs and simple dialogue. The mother closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, happy to be momentarily free of the responsibilities of motherhood.
Conventional wisdom would say that what this mother is doing is wrong. She should not use the television to babysit her child, and doing so on a regular basis could stunt the child's intellectual growth. For years, mothers have been made to feel guilty for using the television as a temporary babysitter. According to some sources, however, sometimes conventional wisdom could be wrong.

A psychology researcher from Canberra has collected some of the first scientific evidence that video gaming can be addictive in a way similar to gambling and alcohol.
"People who spend an excessive amount of time playing video games are powerless to stop themselves from thinking about gaming," says Olivia Metcalf, who did the research for her PhD at the Australian National University. "This is a pattern typical of addiction," she says.
