"We are not speaking of someone's ego here. In Afghanistan Croatia has 330 soldiers while our Prime Minister in Chicago will be involved in confidential debates. Therefore it is absurd for our Prime Minister to answer questions whether he is a terrorist or a drug dealer" said a spokesman for the Croatian Government in a response to "Novi List" request for information upon hearing the prime minister was handed forms and application by the US Embassy to state whether he is involved in prostitution, terrorism etc.
According to Novi List, NATO has four level of security clearance. The Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milovanovic because of his high ranking status has the top level of clearance termed "Cosmic Top Secret".
Despite this, Milovanovic was faced with responding to humiliating questions. "Think back to 2001 when foreign tourists traveling to the US were forced to answer whether they knew how to fly a plane? If someone said "yes", the follow up question was "why?", except this is much worse because a PM is being humuliated and we can't accept this", says Novi List.
Currently, the Prime Minister is saying he will not be representing Croatia in Chicago, instead the Croatian president Ivo Josipovic may replace him.
