Through the Internet browser Google, all patents and patent applications registered by the European Patent Office (EPO) and European Patent Organisation (EPOrg) can be found in Macedonian language as well up to 2014.
This opportunity will allow Macedonian companies, industry, scientists and academics to have easy access to the technical documentation included in patents, EPO president Benoit Battistelli said.
"Patenting accelerates innovation, establishes added value to protected technologies and products, improves competitiveness, boosts economic growth and enables new jobs to be opened," Battistelli said after meeting with the director of the State Office of Industrial Property, Safet Emruli.
The patenting process is long with exceptionally high criteria and costs 25.000 euros.
250.000 patent applications were filed to the European Patent Office last year and only 60.000 were accepted.
Patent applications cover varies areas, such as automotive, metal, food and pharmaceutical industry, telecommunications and electronics.
The European Patent Organisation is a market of over 600 million people. It includes 38 members - all EU countries and 11 others including Macedonia.
Membership into EPOrg is beneficial in attracting foreign investments because it confirms that the state pays special attention to industry property rights.
EPOrg will assist Macedonia in encouraging innovation by organising training, workshops, round-tables and seminars. They aim at raising awareness on rights and patent protection.
